Approaches to Trauma Informed Practice (SCQF Level 7)

This Personal Development Award is designed for participants to gain knowledge and understanding of trauma, the causes and the potential impact of trauma on the individual.  Participants will consider the importance of being an informed practitioner in supporting individuals who may be affected by trauma and explore both therapeutic and organisational approaches to trauma.  

To benefit fully from the course work, it is expected that participants have experience of supporting people experiencing or who have experienced trauma.

Unit 2:  Childhood Trauma  

Unit 3:  Therapeutic Approaches to Trauma  

Unit 4:  Organisational Approaches to Trauma  

On successful completion of the course, you will gain an SCQF Level 7 qualification.   

How is it delivered? 

Over nine face-to-face sessions, candidates will take part in a mix of thought-provoking content, group discussion and interactive activities. Candidates will be assessed via self-directed work and ongoing support is available throughout the course.

All our sessions involve a mix of content, discussion and interactive activities to cater to different learning styles.    

The course covers:   

Day 1: Course Introduction (half-day session)

Day 2 & 3 – Unit 1:  What is Trauma? An Introduction

Day 4 & 5 – Unit 2:  Childhood Trauma  

Day 6 & 7 – Unit 3:  Therapeutic Approaches to Trauma  

Day 8 & 9 – Unit 4:  Organisational Approaches to Trauma

We deliver our open courses from our training venues located in Edinburgh, Fife, or Falkirk.
