Well done to LinkLiving runner ups at Fife Voluntary Action Awards!

Published on 07/06/2016

Two LinkLiving volunteers were runners up in their categories for the recent Fife Voluntary Action Awards.

72 year old Robbie Gallagher, who is one of our longest-serving volunteers and an ambassador for RealLiving, was nominated for Volunteer of the Year. Volunteering for 10 hours every week, Robbie befriends Bob, transports six people to our Rosyth and Torryburn social cafes, and helps to run them.

Shauny Hampson (17) has been an inspiration to everyone involved in Step On, a project which supports people to develop the confidence, personal resilience and skills to secure and hold down a job. At the age of 16, Shauny had lived in five different homeless units, moving from place to place and even sleeping on the street. Since volunteering with Step On in October 2015, Shauny has volunteered over 70 hours, playing a key role in events such as job fairs, as well as providing encouragement and support to new volunteers. She was nominated for most inspirational volunteer at the awards.

Paul White, Head of Operations said, "Everyone at LinkLiving is delighted by Robbie and Shauny's success.  Through encouragement and support, they help people to change their lives for the better.  They are true ambassadors for our organisation and a credit to themselves and their community."
