LinkLiving helping young people ‘Progress On’

Published on 27/06/2014

LinkLiving's Young People's Service has been successfully helping young people in Edinburgh prepare for independent living as part of its 'Progress On' course.

The course provides ‘Preparation for Independence’ workshops (in partnership with Horizons Places for People) to young people approaching the point of leaving care. These sessions help young people moving on from care in Edinburgh to feel more confident and better prepared for the transition to independent living. The course is funded through the Big Lottery Fund alongside the Positive Transitions Project in Bonnington Road.

Claire Gardiner and Graham Livingstone from the Young Person’s Service have been working hard to deliver, develop and recruit for the service. They are delighted to be generating more referrals to help young people develop independent living skills to ensure they are better equipped for this challenging time.

Five young people have just completed the seven week course and reported an overall increase in their confidence and knowledge of their options available to them.

The next courses commence on Thursday, 3 July and  Thursday, 28 August.
